“I want my clients to be able to slide a chair from the dining room to the kitchen, or from the living space to the studio and the pieces should still work. Every element in a home should flow.”
Dayna Katlin’s view that design enhances the “home-as-haven” philosophy has brought her a wide-ranging and loyal client roster. Raised in Weston, Massachusetts by design-savvy parents with a passion for provenance, Dayna was exposed early on to classic interiors that were cherished for their livability as well as their eastern seaboard aesthetics. After moving to the west coast, she enrolled in the venerable Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising where this entre into the world of interpreting style through fabric and color sparked her tactile senses.
Broadening her knowledge of both fine and decorative arts, Dayna studied watercolor as well as pottery and ikebana before engaging in the UCLA Design Program that included color theory and space planning. The combination of these disciplines provided a strong foundation for the launch of Dayna Katlin Interiors in 2006, where traditional sensibilities infused with a love of California’s casual comfort instantly became the firm’s hallmark.
